Day 67
Our friend Hannah was in town this week and tonight we met up for dinner and drinks We had drinks at the Pornping hotel’s roof top bar, which has fantastic views of Chiang Mai.
Day 48
Tonight we met friends for dinner at a new restaurant for us, Pizza N Pasta. It was really nice and the pizza’s are nice and big, which is always a bonus! Off course as usual I only remembered to take a picture when pretty much all the food was eaten except for one slice.
Day 47
Tonight we went out for dinner at our favourite Thai restaurant Krua Watcharee, otherwise known as ‘The General’, (well by us at least). Long story short; a lot of Thai restaurants have only Thai signage, so there are places you may like but have no name in English, so we make up our own names. The General came about because one night, whilst eating here, a man dressed like a General got very, very drunk and reversed his truck into a ditch. We thought it was very funny and thus christened the restaurant ‘The General’.
* The restaurant recently got English signage, but we like our name better!
The food is so good here, Warrie can’t even wait for me to take a picture, hence the hand shot!
Day 43
Today we spent the day looking at tiles AGAIN and vanity units. It took pretty much, most of the day, but we were rewarded with a beautiful sunset as we arrived home
Day 41
Today was a holiday, so Lex, Shell and I relaxed by the pool, had a nice lunch with some wine, followed by shopping, sushi and then drinks. Perfect!
Day 22
This weekend was Chiang Mai Balloon festival. It wasn’t very well advertised, but we couldnt really miss it as it was right up the road from our house so there were lots of balloons floating around, this is our first glimpse of one accidently landing in a field near our house.
Later on we went to the balloon light show which was quite good, but to be honest I enjoyed seeing the balloons being deflated more. The fall of the giants!
Day 16
Today two months after our actual wedding ceremony, Warrie and I got married legally. As we live in Thailand it wasn’t really as simple as going to the registry office and signing a piece of paper. We first had to go to both our consulates and get affidavit’s saying we were both unmarried, then they had to be translated into Thai and sent to the city hall in Chiang Mai and approved. Eventually after all that was finished we could go to the town hall with a Thai witness and get married. Thankfully our good friend Fon agreed to be our witness and translate everything for us, we sat around for 3 hours, then we were called into a crowded office, asked to sign a form and voila, we are now married!
Day 8
Today Michelle treated me to a birthday brunch at the Ginger Cafe. I meant to take a picture of the food, but it was so nice I had it eaten before I remembered to take a photo!
Day 3
After 5 years of living in Chiang Mai, Warrie and I stumbled upon this whilst out and about today. Maybe we should take more interest in Wat’s in the future; they aren’t all bright and shiny!
